More than just hand over one of those big, cardboard cheques, we wanted to find a way to do our part to help raise awareness of the realities faced by vulnerable Albertans.
And, this is where you come in.
Socially conscious social media
We wanted to find a new way to shed some light on these causes, so we thought with a little incentive, we could get our friends and neighbours to help us share the story through social media.
Admittedly, asking that you ‘like’ us on Facebook, or ‘follow us’ on Twitter so we donate $2 to the Calgary Homeless Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Edmonton feels a bit odd, but we think you’ll agree that the end justifies the means.
When you ‘like’ or ‘follow’ us, your followers and friends see the stories, and in turn hopefully watch the videos, learn a little bit more about what vulnerable Albertans face, and then share with their networks, and so on, and so on.
If it works, together we’ll have created a simple and cost-effective way to get the word out about the great work these two groups are doing in the community – while also adding some much needed financial support.
Help brighten communities across Alberta
The Lighting Up Alberta campaign will continue through February 16, 2015, so you have lots of time to get involved and encourage your friends to do the same.
And it’s nice to know that a simple ‘like’ can be worth so much more.
