Through our Lighting Up Alberta campaign as well as the Calgary Homeless Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Edmonton we are hearing unique and inspiring stories. We want to share these stories so we all know the difference we can make.
“If you light a lamp for someone else, it will also brighten your own path”.
My name is Louise Gallagher, and I work with the Calgary Homeless Foundation.
It’s easy to discount the value of changing a single lightbulb, but when you own more than 22 buildings each with a minimum of 20 – 30 hallway light fixtures, changing from traditional lightbulbs to energy efficient bulbs has a big impact on your bottom line, and on the lives of your tenants.
Not only do people get brighter hallways and energy efficient spaces, we also get cost savings in the thousands of dollars just through one simple act of environmental advocacy.
Thanks to ENMAX, the act of lighting up our buildings’ interior common spaces is being made easier through their Lighting Up Alberta campaign.
This campaign is harnessing the power of social media to ignite philanthropic giving in support of our shared vision of ending homelessness in Calgary. For every Facebook LIKE or follow on their Twitter page, ENMAX is donating $1 to CHF, and a corresponding $1 to their northern Alberta campaign partner, Habitat for Humanity Edmonton.
It’s a bright idea that’s making a big difference in the lives of those whose paths home have been lit up by the commitment of thousands of Calgarians who believe home is where ending homelessness begins.
Calgary’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness calls upon every Calgarian to play a part in ending homelessness. Thanks to ENMAX, we’re also playing our part in creating a greener world for everyone.
Together, we can light up Alberta and shine a light on the path home for every homeless Calgarian.
